This quote captures how people’s opinions impact their fear when they don’t necessarily listen to science. People’s opinions are swayed by other opinions which can sometimes create fear but science can always clarify whether something is worth fearing. People fear what they don’t know about, science researches into almost everything and relieves fear. For example, a lot of people including me have a fear of the ocean or open water. Marine biologists research about the open water and gives people a deeper understanding so they don’t fear it. A lot of open water isn’t explored but science keeps working towards understanding unknown things and relieving fear that some people may have about the ocean. This example could apply to anything else that people fear because most likely science would explore it and understand it so people don’t fear it.
