science fair

For the science fair we were trying to see how high of a voltage each fruit had and if the voltage was high enough we wanted to see if it could power something.

Before the break we did collect a little bit of data on 3 different fruits, we did an orange, lemon, and lime. The orange was 0.04, the lemon was 0.12, and the lime was 0.18. We wanted to do different fruits over the break but we didn’t get a chance to.

for the experiment we needed a penny, a nail, a knife, a cutting board, a multimeter, and of course the different fruits we used. The step by step instruction are 1) roll the fruit on the cutting bored. 2) use the knife to cut a small slit in the fruit. 3) insert the penny into the slit you cut. 4) poke the nail into the fruit. 5) insert the ends of the multimeter beside the penny and the nail. 6) record the voltage and repeat with the next fruit, but don’t forget the wipe off the multimeter before putting it in another fruit.

Science Quote

“The good thing about science is that it’s true whether or not you believe in it.”   -Neil deGrasse Tyson

I chose this quote because I think it makes a lot of sense. Science is based off of facts and evidence, wether you chose to believe in it or not that doesn’t change the fact the science is always right because you can’t argue with the facts. if you chose to believe in something or not, that is you opinion and your beliefs, but how are you going to prove it. Science has evidence to back it up, it has people who have studied these kinds of thing for a long time, and it has study to prove it. so overall I think that we should believe what scientists say because they have facts on their side to tell us what’s true or not.

Winter Market Reflection

step 1. Describe your experience

For the winter market I made and sold necklaces, bracelets, and earring with my partner Paige. We decided to make jewelry because we thought that it would fun, and it was. Another reason we decided to pick jewelry was because we both had a little bit of experience making the products we sold, Paige has had experience making necklaces and chains, and I have made bracelets before so we thought that it would be a good idea.

step 2. Examine your experience. Use at least one of the prompts below.

A couple academic concepts came up with was, math because we used it for the financial part of the project, it helped us reach the goal of breaking even and making profit to give to charity. My expectation and for the project was that it would be hard and stressful, it wasn’t to bad near the start of the project but  it did get a little harder near the end because of all the math we had to do.

step 3. Articulate Learning

I learnt that it takes a lot of work to run a business and create a product that people are willing to buy, there is a lot of planning and strategy to running a successful business. I learned this through all of the planning and preparation I needed to do through out this project. this all matters because if you don’t plan ahead your business might not do well and you might end up in a deficit.

choose a core competency to reflect on

I choose communication because I think that I am good at explaining what I am thinking about, for example when I working with a group if I have an idea I will talk about it and say something about it. I am also good at listening to other peoples ideas in a group. I think that I work well with others and I do my share of work in group projects.

Favourite Picture

This is my favourite picture because I really like Bob Ross. He is always so positive and happy. I have watched all of his paining videos that are on Netflix, they are amazing. I took this picture when I was at the mall with my friends, I saw the bobble head in the store and I really wanted it but I need up not getting it.

Favourite Quote

“Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart”  -Winnie the Pooh

The reason I chose this quote is because I really like the message it has. I think what means is that no matter what you are doing or where you are, as long as you have your friends or family or as long as you are having fun, it doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing. The little things matter no matter how small they are.
