- The death of peace and order is nigh,
- As a new medium of deception has been devised,
- Seeing is no longer believing, when any film can be a lie,
- The foundation of power has been compromised.
- If my underlings so desired,
- My power they could seize,
- By forging a broadcast to get me fired,
- Shattering my long-built prestige.
- A fabricated insult towards the King,
- Could reveal the truth of how he leads,
- One which I bethinks,
- Would quickly punish any misdeeds.
- And as I do wish to survive,
- The people of this technology, I must deprive.
- What shall happen if that mad stepson of Claudius,
- Wishes to cause chaos for the throne,
- A simple tape of the king acting odious,
- Could have him overthrown.
- That play was especially out of line,
- Too similar to Hamlet’s tale for a fluke,
- With this technology, the truth, Hamlet could define,
- Displaying the level to which his uncle did stoop.
- Even worse could be done by our enemies up north,
- Weakening our influence without dirtying a hand,
- Provoking a coup which they had endorsed,
- Our royal dominion would not withstand.
- The end of our kingdom, this could spell,
- Unrest I can foretell.
- Along the same vein of their potential attack,
- The uncle of Fortinbras we may besmirch,
- Therefore, his kingdom, we may hijack,
- The world of politics has been cursed.
- However, a great use for this I see,
- For investigating Hamlet, this I shall employ,
- With these fabrications, the truth will be revealed to me,
- Ophelia I will no longer need to annoy.
- So long as this technology remains in my control,
- Rule of the kingdom shall be mine,
- By deceiving the king with the threat of revolt,
- And stopping those who oppose me with threats of false crimes.
- As long as I keep this knowledge constrained,
- The method to this political madness shall be maintained.
