Out of my entire photo gallery, comprised of thousands of images, this one was taken during the first week I had my dog. My family got him after the passing of our previous dog to in a sense, to numb the grief, but to also find new joy. From then on, he has become a vital component in my life and this photo is merely a recollection of our first encounter. Again, this does not depict much of who I am as a person, except that I consider family to be essential.

The link leads to a song labeled “This is Halloween” from The Nightmare Before Christmas. This was my first Tim Burton production (watched it when I was 7) and I think it was also the first film that left a dent or two in my brain. Growing up, I often watched 2D animations, but this style, 3D embedded with melded clay and copious details in each scene was writhing. After finishing the film, I began to develop a keeness for animation and had even considered it as a career choice for some time. However, time has changed that and whenever I see The Nightmare Before Christmas now, it leaves nostalgia and swell of memories in its place. As for what it says about me as a person, I like to think it shows how I value sentiment and memorial significance.

“My mom always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” – Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) from Forrest Gump
The prominent quote from the 1994 film, Forrest Gump conveys that life, in essence, is a mystery. There will be unexpected occurrences, ones likely to not be contemplated, because life is unforeseeable (in some sense). Although this quote doesn’t directly portray who I am as a person, I apply this to my life. I use it as motivation when life gets extensively boring, with hopes that something abrupt would change it. It continues to even dire situation, during those times, I would simply wish for something spontaneous to fix everything (never happened before, not yet).
