Meaningful Quote

"I'll keep all my emotions right here, and then one day I'll die."
- John Mulaney

This quote makes me laugh, but also connect to in a weird/sad kind of way. I chose it because I think it’s a very fitting example of dark humour while also being relatable. Also, I just really like John Mulaney, he’s hilarious. Even though I’m neither white, male, or Catholic, John Mulaney says things that somehow universally relate to a lot of younger people. This quote is from a bit where he talks about how Irish people bottle up the feelings, and while I’m not Irish, I can still relate it to my own experiences of general expression of emotions (very limited).

I feel like overall, the society around me is starting to favor opening up and embracing your emotions, even those with negative connotations, but there’s still reservation around it because no one’s actually going to tell you how they are. I could connect this quote to larger ideas of mental health and depression, which are all topics I’m passionate about, but I don’t think that’s the purpose of this quote. Instead, this offers insight to my sense of humour and my emotional availability, but honestly it’s just a funny quote that I can identify with.

Favourite Youtube Clip

Video from Kristy Lin on Youtube

This is my favourite Youtube video because it’s helpful and makes me feel more capable just by watching it. The video and editing style makes me feel calmer and more relaxed. Whenever I feel unmotivated or sad I go to this video, and it motivates me to do small things that make me feel better and to work on my goals. I think this shows how much I care about being productive all the time, which is unrealistic, but productivity doesn’t just have to be school or work based. It can also be working on yourself. In general, this video just has good vibes✨ that make me feel happy.

Image of Impact

I chose this picture because it helps me remember one of my favorite moments and one of my favorite books. It feels like my summer in a picture – reading, sun, sleeping, staying at home. These small things like the sun and being able to take things slow makes me happy, and I can clearly remember reading this poetry book and just feeling so content with life. It shows my love for reading and how I enjoy simple pleasures. The poem is thought-provoking and beautifully written, and my memory of reading it is tangible through this picture. It’s from “Burning Sugar” by Cicely Belle-Blain. The picture reminds me that I can find joy in the small things, and that’s how I can be happy.
