Reflection

I used a canva because I found it to be easy to understand as well as it being easy to use.

I was able to upload a post to edublog titled “social media and me”

I conveyed my understanding of social media through this canva

I could tell the difference between facts and opinion by being able to tell if it is skewed by someones personal ideas. I was able to tell the difference between opinions and judgements by realizing that opinions have underlying facts, unlike judgments which are made from your personal view.

I analyzed evidence from different perspectives by: trying to put myself in other peoples shoes of all ages and try to think of how they would react.

Digital Footprint

From searching myself up, I learned that I did a good job with my digital footprint as I found nothing relating to me.

Question 1:

How might your digital footprint affect your personal brand and future (eg. school and work) opportunities? Why is it important to be aware of one’s digital footprint? give at least two examples.

A person’s digital footprint can affect their future if their employer or university chancellor sees you doing something stupid on your instagram or facebook, in which they could use it for grounds of termination or even being declined from university. It is important to be aware of one’s digital footprint because if they want to have a steady job in life, they have to be cautious of what they share on the internet. Two examples would be: deleting posts that could potentially harmful to yourself or untagging yourself in another persons posts.

Question 2:

Describe at least three strategies (e.g consider passwords, cookies, security, etc.) that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe?

Three strategies you could do to keep your digital footprint safe is to use an incognito browser when searching things up, that means that your browser history won’t be saved.

The second strategy is to never accept cookies on websites. the third strategy is to never use the same password for every website.

Question 3

How would you explain the idea of “digital permanence” to anyone in your spares of influence: other students, your family members, your teachers, etc. ? Why should we care and be aware of this concept.

I would explain the concept by teaching them what I do and the reasons I do them. We should care because if they post something inappropriate then your future employers could tie it back to you, in turn getting you in trouble.

In conclusion, I learned that it is important to make sure that you have a good digital footprint in order to succeed in life.

Bazaar Reflection

https://pmssholidaybazaar.wixsite.com/2018/sabas-festive-photo-booth

During the bazaar we sold a photo collage for $4 dollars and a sticker for $2 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We only worked those days because on Tuesday and Thursday the other photo booth set up shop. I was working with Arun Ghag, Amy Ferguson and Sarah Feng. We did it because we thought it would be a good and wholesome business to capture students and staffs years of being at Port Moody Secondary school. In total we made $102.85 profit and our cost was around $94 dollars.

An academic concept that came up was that you needed to spend money to make money as we spend a lot of money on props/backdrops but we made back more than double we spent. We noticed this by the quality of the product tended to be better the more money they spent. We did not use that academic concept as we already had what we needed and the quality of the product was very good. We did need to change our approach because in the first day we realized not too many people were coming to our booth so we decided to add another layer of paper, put up more signs, string more lights and go up to people and bring them over to our booth. the experience was different from my initial expectation because I thought that everyone would immediately come over to our booth instead of us having to go and fetch them.

I learned how to attract people and cooperate with others in order to make money and succeed as well as learn from others mistakes and that money makes money. I learnt it by experience as I expected everything to sail smoothly instead of us having to do excess work/effort. It matters because I will now know what to do in the first place to be successful instead of having to start from scratch. In the future I believe that we should be able to resell products instead of making it ourselves as that made it significantly harder to do.

meaningful quote

People change, memories don’t.-Drake

I like this quote because it speaks to me. I have had friends move away but I still think of the memories I’ve had with them. i also chose it because I like drakes music.

Image with impact

I chose this image because I have been playing piano since I was 6 years old. Music means a lot to me as I listen to it everyday and find it calming. I wish to go see a concert soon.https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwizvN2Mg_veAhUQDHwKHTBaA50QjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2F111456865%40N04%2F11357509244&psig=AOvVaw0EKc3WVCZ2asa2Qa5q_ScO&ust=1543629757465081
