An unsung hero of the time of confederation of Confederation was the Chinese Labourers. they arrived in 1858 in search of gold. In the 1800s the Canadian Pacific Railway recruited them. A few years after that the Canadian Government that makes virtually all Chinese to pay a $50 head tax to come to Canada. which they raised to $100. Then again to $500. After that the Canadian government made it nearly impossible for Chinese to immigrate to Canada. In the end of the day, the Chinese to immigrated to Canada decided to mostly move to Alberta in search of a job.
The significance of the Chinese labourers coming to Canada in the 1800s is that they helped with the Canadian Pacific Railway bringing their culture as well with it.
