Quote that inspires me
one death is a tragedy a million is a statistic – Joseph Stalin
I feel like this quote even though said by a madman makes a lot of sense. When people or news talk about the death of one or two people the public reacts accordingly and mourn this tragedy, but when the death of thousands or millions is brought up people still mourn for the tragedy but use it as a statistic for their counting of deaths in WWII or the Great Depression. We should think about the individuals when we talk about large quantities of deaths
Image that impacts me
This is the Hubble Deep Field it’s an image of thousands of galaxies in the endless void of the universe. https://www.nasa.gov/vision/universe/starsgalaxies/hubble_UDF.html
Video that inspires me
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWPFmdAWRZ0 To me this video is very inspiring and shows us how small we are in the grand scheme of the universe. Carl Sagan explains very well how we and our choices impact and shape our planet and why we need to conserve and protect it from ourselves. The audio comes from Carl Sagan reading his book Pale Blue Dot, here is a newspaper article describing the photograph and shows the quote on top. https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=_upSAAAAIBAJ&sjid=noEDAAAAIBAJ&pg=4800,1930437&dq=pale-blue-dot+-book&hl=en
