It sometimes feels like everything I do is for the future. I worry about things that will happen in the future, and I do things so future me can have an easier time. This is obviously not a bad thing as it is important to set yourself up for success. However, I am the happiest when I am in the present, part of the now. I enjoy sports for this reason. It forces you to move on from your mistakes (“the past is over and gone”) to focus on the things that are happening currently. Moments like these make me so happy to be alive. However unlikely it may be, it is possible that I could die tomorrow, next week, or a month from now (“the future is not guaranteed”). I want to live my life to the fullest, especially during my teenage years since I’ll never get it back.
