Favourite Youtube Clip

This is a bookshelf tour from one of my favourite YouTubers, Brittany the Bibliophile. I enjoy reading a lot and started building a book collection of my own last year. I think the way she organizes her shelves is beautiful and similar to how I organize my own shelves. The stories behind some of her books and items are also very cool and add to the experience. I also like the way she talks about some of the books in more detail and explains how she felt about it. This video is also calming in a way so I can play it while I do work as background noise.

Meaningful Quote *spoiler for Six of Crows*

“You’re not weak because you can’t read. You’re weak because you’re afraid of people seeing your weakness. You’re letting shame decide who you are. … We can endure all kinds of pain. It’s shame that eats men whole.” -Leigh Bardugo, Crooked Kingdom, page 283

This quote was said by Kaz Brekker to Wylan Van Eck, two of Crooked Kingdom’s main characters. Wylan has dyslexia, which has been the source of many of his insecurities and traumas. Kaz is telling him that his disability is not what is restricting him, but it is his shame that is. I think this is a meaningful quote because 90% of the time a disability or characteristic someone has is not what is holding them back, but it is the insecurity and shame they feel towards it that holds them back. All in all this is a very blunt motivational quote that I think holds great meaning for a lot of people. Though it may not be what they want to hear, it’s what they need to hear.

Image of Impact

This is a photo my dad took mid-August this year while we were in Parksville, a city near Nanaimo. I chose this image firstly, because it is a beautiful image with the bright blue sky, white clouds, and the water in the distance. The small seagulls are also a nice touch. The second reason I chose this image is because of the wonderful memories associated with this image. This was the final camping trip my family went on this summer and we went with one of my best friends who I hadn’t seen for over a year at that point. When we reunited it felt like we hadn’t been separated a day in our lives and we had so much fun during those short few days. This picture reminds me of what a good time I had during that trip and how beautiful the campground we stayed in was.
