Port Moody Secondary opened in 1973 where it is now. An interesting detail: After the first Port Moody High School burned down in 1969, a mythological bird, ‘Phoenix’, was chosen as the mascot for the new school. Because Phoenix is a bird rising from the ashes. Our team name is ‘Port Moody Blues.’ Today, there are more than 1,300 students and about 100 staff members.
