Paul’s Science Fair Reflection

My science fair research question was “How will different materials put in slime change the attributes of the slime?” We chose this topic because a lot of students nowadays gets a lot of stress either from work, home, or school, and we thought that it would be a good idea to create slime. We (Mohit and I) have never made slime in our lives, we thought it would be kind of like a challenge for us to make slime, and also make different batches of different slime to test out the overall best stress relieving slime.

Math Financial Literacy Project

For my refection I Choose question 1 and 2 mainly because they are the main two that I can answer.

  • I can ask question to my group that they can keep building on, and collecting as much information as possible.
  • While making the video, there were a lot of changes that we had to adjust for, Tedrik for example couldn’t read his line properly because it was a bit too long and he was choking on some parts not making it very fluent, so we had to minimize his lines so he could read it.
  • We choose to put some of the parts in the scripts in, and leave some parts out, because that was what we thought was a good idea, and we hoped that decision could improve our video presentation.
  • My group and I has tried to present using a PowerPoint, Sway, and a video. PowerPoint didn’t really work out for us. We did finish the Sway but when the video was done we felt like the video would make a better presentation.
  • How I monitor my progress is by writing what I should do today, tomorrow, the day after that, on a calendar to keep track of whose doing what.
  • If we wanted to make our audience fee intense or scared for example, we could add a gun shot noise in the video. If we wanted the audience to comedic we could maybe add a censor or a bleep in the video.

Social Media and Me

Section 1 – Confusion is the point

Social media changes how we feel, the way we think and much more without us really realizing it. Just because someone says something, we automatically just think that’s just how it is without doing any research. How social media changes the way we consume stuff is different because the more info that pops up the more we think that’s true and then it might make us feel different than before, even though some of it might not be true.

Section 2: Ted talk

The things that we receive from the internet is just another way to make us feel more secure and in some cases, it might be toxic to some people because of what happens there. All we care about is likes, some might not think of likes as a big deal but to most of us, it makes us feel good about ourselves when we see people like our posts or comment something good. Sometimes when you don’t hit your normal amount of like a goal you might feel sad and think just what you did wrong, think about disabling your social media account, or even having depression.

SECTION 3: THE TWO CLIPS

The world that was showed in that video to me feel like something that wouldn’t really affect me, but I can totally see people living in that world. To be honest some parts of the video I can kind of relate to but for the most part, I don’t. The way that the main character gain point is by doing something nice and hope people will be nice and give them a like. The points are important to her because it is what makes her feel good about herself because if she has a lot of points it means that no one is really talking behind her back all for the most part everyone likes her. It changed this world that we now care about ourselves so much that we would do anything for attention/like and if we don’t achieve what we want it might give us suicidal thoughts.

Digital Footprint Question#3

Q: How would you explain the idea of “digital permanence” to anyone in your sphere of influence: other students, your family members, your teachers, etc.? Why should we care and be aware of this concept?

Answer: I would explain to them what digital permanence means and that they should be aware and care about it. They should care and be aware of this because I am pretty sure they wouldn’t want something they wouldn’t want to be put up online for a very long period of time or maybe Image result for digital permanenceeven a lifetime.

Digital Footprint Questions#2

Q: Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint safe.Image result for how to make your profile private on instagram

Answer: If you are an Instagram user you can go into the settings and you can change a couple important setting like the one where you keep everything you post private so only your friends/family can see or public so everyone can see and might get put onto google images.Image result for how to lower personalization on google

You can also turn down the personalization bar in the google settings so Google wouldn’t follow you around when you are using the internet as much. You can’t really turn off personalization because it is impossible you can only crank it down bit by bit.

So if somebody is tagging you in some pictures or something you have the choice to un-tag yourself this really helps if you don’t want to get yourself exposed to other people if you don’t Image result for how to untag on instagramwant to get follow a request by random people.

Digital Footprint question#1

Q: How might your digital footprint affect your personal brand and future opportunities? Why is it important to be aware of one’s digital footprint? Give at least two examples.

Answer: If you leave a bad trail behind like posting something bad or inappropriate, people can find and see it. If you are applying for a job at somewhere they might look through your social media, and if they see something bad they might not want you to work for them because they are going to automatically assume that, that’s what you act like in real life. Same with the brand if someone like a buyer, for example, sees your products and is interested in it, they might google you up, and if something bad from the past pops up they might be disgusted and not buy or invest in your brand. The reason why they need to do this is that they need to know that they are hiring the right person because they wouldn’t want there to be controversy after they hired you.
