In the Winter Market, I sold Wood Art and Instagram Coasters with my co-workers Benjamin and Jason. I was in charge of selling and making the products. I thought it was a good idea to sell Coasters and Wood Art because I love having decorative items in my home, especially if they are made from wood which is in trend these days and according to our poll people wanted to buy it. Things that happened might be important is that when we showed Mr.Valante our coasters he really liked it and even to us it looked very professional which let to a lot of sales in the market. I really enjoyed my experience not only because we made a profit, but also it was a really big learning curve and made me learn a lot of new things.
Some Academic concepts I saw become apparent during my experience was our wood art becoming obsolete because nobody wanted to buy it and it sorta dies out after the first day. Some other concepts include our business being solvent since all our deficits are paid and we made a profit and only profit after that. I also never expected it to be so much work in making a business when we have first presented this assignment. Now I know that there is so much work that has to be put into a business for it to function even at such a small scale like this, so you can only imagine what it takes to be global like Nike or Adidas.
I learned that businesses take a lot of work to function and require a lot of aspects. I also learned that some products can become obsolete and you can make products better each day so they sell. Also, marketing plays a big part in the whole experience and you need to have confidence in your products so you can sell it confidently. I learned that it takes a lot of work after we were presented the written portion which was a lot and showed that there is a lot of stuff put into a business. I learned that some products can become obsolete when our wood art became obsolete. I learned marketing plays a big part when we made our Instagram page and got a lot of attention as well as our posters. Lastly, I learned that we need to have confidence when we sold our wood art to one person even though nobody bought it at all because we sold it in confidence and he believed it was a good product. I think it matters I learned and experienced this because if I want to do something like this in the future, I will be prepared and won’t have to take that mental toll of all the work that has to be pit since I already know that goes in a company. Also, I really enjoyed this experience which could give me a hint I would like to do something like this in the future. Lastly, it gave me an opportunity to be in business and work in one which opened a lot fo different possibilities of jobs that I did not know I would be interested in. In the future, I might have done more thinking into what I could do to make my product better and make it sell more. Also even though we did focus a bit on marketing I think it would have been better if we marketed our product even more so more people knew about our stall.
I used creative thinking during the whole market because I was the one who came up with the ideas and of course my peers help me build on it and make them better. Our ideas were pretty good I would say especially our coasters since we sold a lot of those. I built on my ideas to improve them using feedback from my peers and Mr.Valante. Also, our ideas were pretty unique and so was our technique of making them also, the customizable factor was an improvement I made and also mad each coaster unique for each customer. I also used social responsibility by being open-minded to my peers and comprising on ideas so we all agree, also I let people do the jobs they wanted to do and were interested in. I kept positive vibes between my peers and teammates during the market by cheering them up even when we were not making any sales. I also solved some problems when my peers were not cooperating with each other. Overall I love working with others and really enjoy so it was not that hard to have social responsibility because I have worked with a lot of people before as well.
