The blue dough conducts electricity better than the pink dough. Utilizing my sense of smell, I infer that they were made out of flour with oil added to it. The pink dough appears to contain more moisture and the blue dough, which leads me to believe the blue dough contains salt (based on the assumption that the same amount of water was added).

To increase the brightness of the LED, we decreased the amount of dough used and utilized only blue dough. We also decreased the number of LEDs in order to make each individual one brighter.
To decrease the brightness of the LED, we put as much distance between the LED and the wire from the battery, utilized pink dough, and increased the number of LEDs.
