Science Quote

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”

– Marie Curie

This quote resonates with me because if we spend less time worrying and more time understanding we can gain enough knowledge that generations after us won’t have to worry. Humans fear the unknown. If we don’t know what it is, then we don’t know what is is capable of. Verse if we do the research and gain the knowledge we know what it is and we can assist in the prevention and/or avoidance of that substance. For example in the 1980’s cancer took a huge toll on humans. Loss of limbs, or even loss of life. Fast forward to today where we have done the research and gained the knowledge, every person that is diagnosed with cancer knows that they have a chance of survival. Once we stop fearing the unknown we can gain knowledge and assist in the prevention or eradication of the disease.

Favourite Picture

This is my favourite picture that I have taken. I like this picture because it shows many different elements of nature in one picture. I took this picture while on a walk through the Poco Trails and since then it has been my favourite. Another reason that this picture is my favourite is that it makes me feel calm. Whenever I look at this picture I can visualize & hear the water flowing on the river and can feel the wind rushing past my face.

Inspirational Quote

“The Man Who Has Confidence In Himself Gains The Confidence Of Others.” – Hasidic Proverb

I find this quote inspiring because to gain other peoples trust and confidence you first have to believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself then that shows in one way or another, and when other people see this they feel less confident in you because they feel that if you are not confident in your own abilities then how will you be able to carry out their task. So if you want to gain other’s trust it is important to first believe in yourself.

Above is the link to a remix of the song “Wavin’ Flag”originally recorded by K’naan but re-written by the Young Artists for Haiti.

This video is made by the “Young Artists for Haiti. This is an organization that took many young Canadian artists to help inspire Canadian contributions in Haiti after is was hit by a 7.1 magnitude earthquake in January 2010. I find this video inspiring because it shows a different way we can support the people over there without even being there through the form of music. It shows that by doing even so little it can help so many people by giving them hope in such tough times.
