my digital footprint

googling your self

question 1. when I googled myself nothing really came up. some old articles from when I played ringette. also some social media accounts. I don’t think that my digital footprint is harmful or embarrassing to anybody.

how your digital footprint affects you

question 2. when you apply for a job they may look you up and you don’t want them to see something that you regret. you want to be careful about what you put out on the internet. what you put on the internet is permanent and with never be truly gone. don’t put out stuff that you may regret in the long run. you also have to be careful about what you say about people and if it is hurtful. you don’t want your employers to find something about you that is not appropriate. and you don’t want to say something offensive. what you say can affect your personal life. you don’t want something as small as one post to affect your life, or someone else’s so greatly.

keeping it appropriate

question 3. keeping your digital footprint safe and appropriate. to keep your digital footprint safe and appropriate you can make sure to keep the things you post clean and safe. only post things that you would feel comfortable sharing with your family and other people. another strategy you can use is making your accounts privet. by doing this only the people you trust can see your account. your account is not open to the public, making it safer for you. one more thing you can do to keep it safe is thinking before you post. don’t post something that you are going to regret. don’t post nasty comments or rude things keep it positive and polite.

digital permanence

question 4. explaining digital permanence. when you post something to the internet ( social media ) it is permanent. you may delete it from your account but chances are someone out there has that photo or information. simply deleting the thing is not enough to get rid of it forever. be very careful about what you put out there on the internet. think before you post, and be informed.
